Case Study Method- Beth Ellis

The case study method is one of the most effective methods of learning in a business environment. A case study is a real scenario and usually there is a problem that needs to be solved. In order to fully understand the case, a person should read through it a couple of times and highlight or remember the most important issues or points brought up in the case. Since most cases have questions that need to be answered at the end, it is very helpful to understand the most important parts in order to answer the questions in a knowledgeable manner.
Since case studies are usually real life situations that have happened to a company in the past, there are usually reasonable methods that could be used to solve the problem or to make sure that the problem never happens again. Once you’ve completed the reading of the case and answered the questions, it is a good idea to write up a summary of the case including the answers to the questions so that it not only increases your understanding of the case, but so that anyone reading the summary would get a clear idea of the problems and solutions that you’ve come up with.
