Leadership self-assessment- Chris Ciota

Out of the six key characteristics of good strategic leaders, I feel that commitment is my best quality. I feel that I am committed most of the things I do, whether it be a job at work, an assignment for school or a task at home. For example, when I have already worked a full, eight-hour day and my boss asks me to put in six extra hours on that same day, I never hesitate to say yes. Not only could I use the money but it is important to me that my I maintain a good reputation about my work ethic.
Out of the six key characteristics I would say that willingness to delegate and empower is the one I need to improve on the most. When a leadership opportunity opens up I do not often shoot for it. The reason is not because I do not want to hold an authoritative position but because I am relatively shy in empowering situations. If I can have more confidence in my work I will be more likely to delegate. For example, when I was in high school I was a JROTC officer. This means that I was a mentor and leader to the underclassmen in my military high school.

I believe that chris would be a great leader, although he says that his weakness is empowering and taking charge, it is a group you will work together to get the project done. You shouldn't always have to boss the rest of your group around and to be a leader in JROTC is hard, one of my friend did that and he said haveing to mentor and be a leader to people in your own school is hard.

Commitment to a job is of upmost importance. Chris has great commitment, which is why he would be a great leader. Already having the experience of being a leader puts him in a good postion when future leadership opportunites come. His willingness to delegate and empower needs to improve. The desire to be a leader needs to be high to be a great leader.

In Support of your Leadership

I have been in a group project with Chris before and I feel not only is his commitment to the team there but also his willpower to get everything done on time. Chris wasn't the leader in the group but he always took on the hardest part of the group work to choose from. To have the courage to do this makes me believe when times get tough he will be the one to step up and take over and show whose boss.
